This is a large, detailed industrial plant complex. It can serve as an oil or chemical refinery, electrical power or manufacturing plant, reservoir and pipeline pumping station or port any type of industrial scene.

Includes a huge variety of pipes, valves, vessels, scaffolds, girder structures, HVAC ducts with blowers, buildings and warehouses. Skydome and backdrop terrain mesh are included. Also includes utility trucks and detailed human worker models that use overlapping ball-joints for easy posing and manipulation of limbs (right down to individual finger joints) without the need for character rigging.

Using reference photos and diagrams from a variety of oil refineries and chemical plants, this scene has been modeled for balance between polygon efficiency and good 3D detail at close range. Nearly all objects in the scene are texture mapped with a combination of specific and seamless textures. Both color maps and separate bump maps are used. (FBX, 3DS, and OBJ exports also use texture maps; DXF does not.) Most of the maps are 1024×1024 pixels, with some 2048×2048 used on buildings and large surfaces. All have been manually UV mapped and adjusted for good fit with minimized stretching.

Nearly all texture maps have been generated from photographs of various industrial surfaces. Corroded metal maps have been used on some surfaces for added realism; however, if a clean look is preferred simply replace the seamless, corroded maps with the seamless, clean painted surface maps or clean metal maps in the directory.

Designed and grouped for modular layouts. Groupings and layers have also been set up (.max file only) so that parts of the scene not within view can be easily shut off to speed up rendering.

Modeled to proper scale in meters.

Preview image stills were rendered with 3D Studio Maxs default scanline renderer. Turntable images were created with QuickSilver renderer. Lights and settings used to generate these preview images are included ( .max file only).
